O'Dwyer Homes and HomeAid Unite at Crossroads Community Ministries
Volunteers donate over $6,200 in repairs for facilities serving people experiencing homelessness
Atlanta – August 27, 2025 – Atlanta family-owned home builder O’Dwyer Homes joined building industry nonprofit HomeAid Georgia for a Care Day that provided over $6,200 in savings for Crossroads Community Ministries on June 28. HomeAid Care Days deliver free maintenance and repair services to nonprofit organizations that provide housing and critical programs for individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Twenty-three O’Dwyer Homes volunteers removed an interior wall, leveled a sloping floor, repaired water damage in the commercial kitchen, and painted throughout two buildings. Patriot Electrical Solutions generously contributed their expertise, providing electrical work to support the project. For the past 28 years, Crossroads Community Ministries has been dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. The organization's goal is to empower people on their journey towards stability and to help them build a foundation to stand on their own.
Tony Johns, Executive Director at Crossroads Community Ministries, emphasized the impact of the improvements: "One of Crossroads' core values is dignity, so the space we provide services in is very important. This incredible Care Day enhances our facility by improving accessibility and functionality, while also creating a more welcoming and visually uplifting environment where people feel supported and empowered to find the help they need."
Since 2021, HomeAid has completed four Care Days at Crossroads, producing more than $18,800 in total savings. Those savings allow Crossroads to focus more funding on programs that empower people on their path to stability and self-sufficiency.
This project marked O’Dwyer Homes’ fourth Care Day with HomeAid Georgia, contributing more than $21,000 in savings for nonprofits. Beyond Care Days, O’Dwyer Homes has also taken the lead on two major construction projects, delivering a combined value of over $856,393. It is the generosity and community-minded commitment of home builders and trades that drive progress toward building a future without homelessness.
HomeAid Georgia – Formerly HomeAid Atlanta builds new lives for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness through construction, community engagement, and education. HomeAid accomplishes that mission by partnering with the building industry to receive discounts and donations on construction and maintenance projects for nonprofits providing housing and supportive services. The non-profit organization has completed over 200 construction projects at locations for victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, veterans, and more, utilizing connections with building industry professionals and community organizations. In addition to these projects, HomeAid engages with community partners to meet immediate needs through drives to collect essential hygiene items. Learn more at www.homeaidga.org.
