HomeAid Georgia, Paran Homes, and Evans General Contractors Dedicates New 10,000-Square-Foot Shelter at Peace Place

Doubling capacity, providing safe shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence

ATLANTA, GA (June 30, 2026) - HomeAid Georgia, Paran Homes, Evans General Contractors, trade partners, and community supporters came together on June 30 to dedicate the recently completed construction project at Peace Place in Jackson County. The new 10,000-square-foot shelter doubles the nonprofit organization’s capacity, adding 32 beds for single mothers and women fleeing domestic violence.

This milestone is particularly significant for HomeAid Georgia, representing the organization’s first major construction project beyond its original metro Atlanta service area following its statewide expansion in October 2024.

For Peace Place, the new facility represents far more than additional housing capacity. It provides a safe, dignified environment where women and their children can begin rebuilding their lives with stability, healing, and hope for the future. Traci Bledsoe, Executive Director of Peace Place, expressed, “This was not just a construction project; it was a miracle unfolding right before our eyes. Together, we created a refuge — a place of peace — where women and children will find safety, healing, and empowerment when home is no longer a safe place to be.”

Through the generosity of Paran Homes, Evans General Contractors, and their trade partners listed below who donated or discounted labor and materials, the project has already achieved more than $778,000 in savings on a $1.3 million retail budget. Sean Driggers, Paran Homes Builder and HomeAid Builder Captain, expressed, “Building this shelter wasn’t just about constructing a building. It was about creating a place of safety and peace where healing can begin.”

Sam Hausler, Preconstruction Manager at Evans General Contractors, expressed, “This isn't just another building—it's a place where families can find security, healing, and hope for a better future. Knowing our work will help protect and support members of our own community is something we'll carry with us long after the project is complete."

HomeAid Georgia extends its sincere appreciation to Paran Homes, Evans General Contractors, and their 55 trade partners whose contributions helped bring this project to life.

HomeAid accomplishes that mission by partnering with the building industry to receive discounts and donations on construction and maintenance projects for nonprofits providing housing and supportive services. For a quarter century, the non-profit organization has completed over 258 construction projects at locations for victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, veterans, and more, utilizing connections with building industry professionals and community organizations. In addition to these projects, HomeAid engages with community partners to meet immediate needs through drives to collect essential hygiene items. Learn more at www.homeaidga.org.
