David Weekley Homes Joins Meaningful HomeAid Care Day

HomeAid Georgia, David Weekley Homes, and trade partners save nearly $46,000 for Powder Springs nonprofit

POWDER SPRINGS, GA June 10, 2025 – On June 5, David Weekley Homes, its trade partners, and HomeAid Georgia came together for a meaningful Care Day at Calvary Children’s Home in Powder Springs. The organization provides long-term housing and care for children who cannot safely live with their families, offering a safe, stable, faith-based environment where children can grow emotionally, socially, and educationally.

During the Care Day, a team of 43 volunteers completed a variety of improvement projects across the Calvary Refuge Center campus. Volunteers painted bathrooms, refreshed landscaping, built picnic tables, and constructed a new storage shelving unit for donations. David Weekley Homes’ trade partners also contributed by installing new bathroom fans, lights, faucets and shower glass enclosures, as well as spreading mulch and pine straw throughout the grounds.

“Care Days like this remind our children and staff that they are deeply cared for by the community around them,” said Brian Busby, Campus Director of Calvary Children’s Home. “Seeing  HomeAid, David Weekley Homes and their trade partners give their time, talents, and hearts to improve our campus creates more than just a refreshed space — it creates encouragement, hope, and a lasting impact on the children who call Calvary home.”

The following trade partners generously supported the project:

  • Apex Grading and Landscaping

  • Builders FirstSource

  • Georgia Specialty Products Inc.

  • PDI Woodstock

In addition to the volunteer efforts, funding from the David Weekley Homes DWH CARES grant allowed HomeAid Georgia to purchase patio furniture and other much-needed materials for the project. The combined value of volunteer labor, donated materials, skilled trade work, and DWH CARES grant funding resulted in nearly $46,000 in savings for Calvary Children’s Home.

Since 2019, HomeAid Georgia and David Weekley Homes have partnered on six completed Care Days, together providing more than $277,600 in savings for nonprofits serving individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
