Bank of America Packs 1,000 HomeAid CareKits

Volunteers assemble hygiene kits to provide essentials for homelessness

Atlanta – September 3, 2025 – On Thursday, August 28, 2025, Bank of America packed 1,000 CareKits for individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness. CareKits are hygiene kits containing items such as socks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and more. A HomeAid CareKit is more than the amenities inside; it's about providing hope, health, and a fresh start for those who are struggling to meet their family’s most basic needs.

Forty dedicated Bank of America volunteers worked in shifts to set up, pack, and break down, assembling the CareKits efficiently in only a few hours. The August 28 hygiene kits were distributed to DeKalb County Library Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to provide support for DeKalb County Public Library (DCPL) beyond public funding and to enrich the lives of DeKalb County citizens through educational, cultural and literary programs and services. The Foundation values a literate community, open access to information, and the library as a community gathering place.

"A big "Thank You" to Bank of America and the HomeAid team for your support of the DeKalb County Public Library's CareKit initiative. A young lady approached me at the Hairston Crossing Library to inquire about whether we still provided the kits and when they would be available again. I was pleased to let her know that we were picking up the kits this week and they would be available in our branches again soon! These personal care items mean a great deal to many of our patrons who may not have access to these items or the funds to purchase them. The contributions and support of HomeAid make it possible for DCPL to support our communities in ways that matter!" - Teresa Totten, Programming and Services Coordinator, DCPL

The August 28 event marked Bank of America’s ninth onsite CareKit assembly, providing a total of 9,400 hygiene kits to local nonprofits. In addition, Bank of America has sponsored four CareKit events. Since 2014, HomeAid Georgia has packed more than 20,000 CareKits thanks to the generous support of Bank of America. The CareKit initiative itself began in 2014 as a national partnership between HomeAid and Bank of America.

HomeAid Georgia – Formerly HomeAid Atlanta builds new lives for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness through construction, community engagement, and education. The non-profit organization has completed over 200 construction projects at locations for victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, veterans, and more, utilizing connections with building industry professionals and community organizations. In addition to these projects, HomeAid engages with community partners to meet immediate needs through drives to collect essential hygiene items. Learn more at www.homeaidga.org
